Learn to Skate Programs

PreCanSkate

PreCanSkate is a readiness program for participants who have never skated before or who are not confident with their balance on the ice (regardless of age).  Skaters will learn how to get up and stand on the ice with balance, move forward, move backwards and stop.  Skaters require a CSA-approved hockey helmet with a cage.  Our PreCanSkate sessions are instructed by Skate Canada Certified Professional Coaches and delivered in a group format.  All ice and coaching costs are included in the registration price.

CanSkate

CanSkate is a dynamic learn-to-skate program that focuses on fun, participation and basic skill development. Skaters will learn a series of balance, control and agility skills taught in six stages. CanSkate is for participants who can move forward unassisted and complete a full lap around the arena with relative speed.  Skaters require a CSA-approved hockey helmet.  Our CanSkate sessions are instructed by Skate Canada Certified Professional Coaches and delivered in a group format.  All ice and coaching costs are included in the registration price.  Prerequisite(s): successful completion of PreCanSkate or equivalent.

Intro to Figure Skating (Advanced CanSkate)

Intro to Figure Skating is an advanced CanSkate program that is suitable for skaters who have passed CanSkate Stage 4 and would like to continue developing balance, control and agility skills with a focus on figure skating. The goal of this program is to prepare skaters for STAR 1.  Skaters must wear lace-up figure skates and may require a CSA-approved hockey helmet.  All ice and coaching costs are included in the registration price. Prerequisite(s): successful completion of CanSkate Stage 4 or equivalent.

Adult / Teen CanSkate

Adult/Teen CanSkate is a learn to skate program tailored to teens and adult participants.  Skaters will learn how to skate or enhance their existing skating skills in a fun and comfortable learning environment.  Sessions include group instruction tailored to individual skating ability.  Skaters require a CSA-approved hockey helmet.  Our Adult/Teen CanSkate sessions are instructed by Skate Canada Certified Professional Coaches and delivered in a group format.  All ice and coaching costs are included in the registration price.  Prerequisite(s): successful completion of PreCanSkate or equivalent.
